Summer Smalls Show Submissions
Hello Artists! It is very important to read all the info below carefully before submitting:
Submission Deadline: Sunday, June 1st, 2025*
Art revue: We will contact artists by end of day June 6 to let them if their work has been chosen.
Art drop-off: Sometime between June 10-13.**
Show Run: June 21 – Aug 31, 2025
Art Pick-up: TBD sometime the first week of Sept.
Who can submit: This show is by invite only, except if…
1. You have exhibited with us before in the Smalls Show/Artisan Market but didn’t receive an invite. We may have missed you! Please reach out to us but check your junk/spam folder first incase the invite went there.
2. You are brand new to Craig Gallery but feel your work could really fit with this show! You are welcome to submit but we require a $20 non-refundable submission fee via cash or e-transfer.***
What we are looking for:
- 2D work will be accepted in a variety of mediums: paint, print, collage etc., but each piece must be:
- For sale.
- Priced $250 or under.
- No larger than 18″ x 22″ or 20″ square inches.
- 100% ready to hang by the time of drop off. (Pieces should either be framed, or on stretched canvas/cradled board with cleanly painted sides. All pieces must have hangers or wire on the back.)
How to apply:
- All submissions must come via email to info@craiggallery.ca
- Title email “Smalls Show Submission”
- Include up to 5 images of your work in jpeg format. †
- Please provide the following info for each piece to be considered: Title, Size, Medium & Price. Please indicate if you will be framing or not, and if not please include a photo of the sides of the piece.
- Please include info about each piece in the body of one email.
Please note:
- Work must be dropped off and picked up in person between June 10-13.*
- Commission split 60% Artist – 40% Gallery
- 3D works will also be considered. Please email info@craiggallery.ca for more details.
- We are open to selling photography or prints that are matted and nicely packaged behind plastic and easy to browse. If this is something you are interested in, please email. We are not accepting framed hung photography at this time.
*Work may be accepted after June 1st, but will not be included in the opening show or initial online gallery. It will be rotated into the show during the summer as other work sells.
** If you are not available to drop off during this time, we can try to arrange another time or you can have a friend drop it off for you.
*** Why are we asking for a fee? The last open call we did for a show, we received a lot of random submissions that weren’t really related to the theme and spent a lot of time going through them. If artists who haven’t been invited want to submit, we want to know that they are serious and really believe their work will be a good fit. It’s also some extra compensation for going through additional submissions. If you have been invited, this fee does not apply to you!
† A big reason why we are requesting images, is so we can create an online gallery this year that can launch in tandom with the show opening. Also, we want to be able to easily promote on social media.
Artisan Pop-up Submissions
We are open to hosting pop-ups in the gallery throughout the summer. How this will work is TBD as this is a new idea we testing but some thoughts:
- Artist rents space for a certain time period and we take a minimal commission.
- Artist has free space for a certain time period and we take a bigger commission.
- Artist barters some hours working in the gallery for free space and minimal commission.
Right now the space available would be the jewelry cabinet including shelves but when that goes we would have a table and possible shelf/stand combination that can be set up to work well with whatever is currently hung in the gallery. FYI, the pop-up will not include wall space!
