After a winter of reflection, we’d like to put the rumours to rest. While we know many of you were hoping we might reopen in a new location, we’ve made the decision not to return to a permanent gallery space.
This choice comes partly in response to the current economic climate, and partly from a shift in priorities. We truly loved running the gallery, and it meant a great deal to us. At the same time, we’ve really appreciated the last 4 months away from the day-to-day responsibilities of having a physical business.
While owning a gallery was a dream we were grateful to realize, we’re now looking forward to being able to focus more on other interests and ideas.
Even though we will no longer have a storefront this is not the end of Craig Gallery:
- We will continue to exist online, where you can browse art and also buy from our store – to be fully up and running by the end of May.
- In Meaford, we will continue to have work on display (and available for purchase) at the Keep Refillery and Hills. We are also excited to share that we will have a digital presence at GUM Gallery (46 Sykes St. N) opening on April 30.
- In future we plan to open up our home and studio space (in an old church between Bognor and Walters Falls) for occasional exhibitions and workshops. Look out for announcements about Craig Studio St. Paul’s
Our Artists
Art from Philip Craig, Shannon Craig Morphew and Jordan Craig will still be available through Craig Gallery Online. Through shipping or local delivery. We are always happy to make an appointment to show you available work in person.
Philip and Shannon’s work is available at Loch Gallery in Toronto & Calgary and Koyman Galleries in Ottawa, and Jordan’s work is available through Wall Space Gallery in Ottawa.
We will also have some local artists with work on display at The Keep Refillery and Hills available for online purchase as well. Some of our local artists now have work displayed online at GUM Gallery, or will be at the Walter’s Falls Group of Artists show in August. Feel free to reach out to us if you are looking for someone!
What We’re Up To
Currently Jonathan is focused on his career in film and television. He has some upcoming projects in the works and will also be pursuing some personal creative endeavors.
As for myself, along with working on Craig Gallery Online, I recently started a job with the Meaford Chamber of Commerce and I love feeling more connected with the community again. I am also spending more time painting which has been great 🙂
Looking forward to updating you again soon.
